The EU Competence Centre for Science Communication is led by the COALESCE consortium, which is funded by the European Commission for an initial period of four years. The Competence Centre itself is virtual in nature, made up of national and regional hubs in countries across Europe, which serve as the venues for its activities and trainings.
The role of the Competence Centre is to consolidate existing knowledge of science communication and to co-develop and make accessible guidelines, tools and recommendations in order to improve science communication for all actors in research and innovation. Tools available on this platform will be co-created by COALESCE national and regional hubs as well as by members of the wider COALESCE Community of Practice, through a series of workshops and case clinics with relevant stakeholders from diverse sectors involved in science communication.
